The Training on Tape Series, in conjunction
with ASI Interview tapes and the User Guide provide all the necessary
information and materials to facilitate an ASI workshop. The User's Guide
along with the set of videotapes and interviewer tape(s) has been designed
to serve as a flexible resource for those who wish to learn about and use

ASI Interview Tapes
ASI Interview Tapes showing the correct
administration and coding of an ASI interview have also been developed.
Interview tapes case histories are drawn from clinical experiences that
reflect real world clinical cases that present for treatment. Each
videotape comes a viewer’s guide and answer key showing the correct coding
responses for the interview.
ASI interview tapes are currently being used
as “in-house” competency measures and or as part of in-service or other
training initiatives.

Software
ASI software has been developed with extensive
consultation from the developers of the Addiction Severity Index,
Thomas McLellan Ph.D., his clinical and research staff and from
practitioners and program directors from around the country. The response to the
software, its ease of use, interface, narrative bio-psycho-social and reporting
capabilities has been overwhelming positive.
ASI TRAINING.com trainers will provide ASI
training in conjunction with ASI Software training. There are several

Self Administered ASI
ASI-MV, is an interactive, multimedia CD ROM program that allows for client
self administration of the widely used ASI (5th Edition), Which was developed by A. Thomas
McLellan Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. The program is mouse driven using a
kiosk-based system or a desktop computer; it saves customers money, ensures standardization
of administration and can become an indispensable part of substance treatment planning.
In the program, the user is greeted by a virtual counselor and guided through a city
block and a series of offices, meeting with a number of professional interviewers.
Questions and answer options are presented verbally and on screen, so clients need not
be literate to self-administer the program.
Upon completion - in 30 - 60 minutes - assessment reports are immediately printed for
staff and a "Certificate of Completion" is printed for clients. ASI-MV, Calculates
Reliable Severity Ratings and Composite Scores and is supported by scientific research.
Counselors can spend less time collecting information in the "Assessment" mode and more
time focusing on teh information collected in the "Intervention" mode.
